A1NS poll predicts landslide

A poll independently conducted by the A1 News Service has predicted a landslide victory for OAMIAO Secretary candidate and current Vice Secretary-General, Alexander Reinhardt. The poll, in which 21 OAM members voluntarily participated in over three days, also predicted that incumbent Secretary-General Philip Fish and former Secretary-General Peter Bralesford would attain the position with a combined vote of 61%.

Other general questions asked in the poll showed an unexpected results, with only 33% of respondents in favour of abolishing the controversial condemnation motions.

Ministry of Communications implements anti-spam measures

The Ministry of Communications, in one of its last acts, has implemented an anti-spam measure in A1′s new email system, designed to “get one back”, according to Minister for Communications, Sir. Philip Fish. The strategy, which involves redirecting all spam to a specific email address, “may not necessarily do anything directly, but makes us feel a lot better”, according to Sir. Fish. “In a nutshell, any email received at this email address will receive an auto-reply email containing 10,000 words of “NGGG”, as well as an email signature that would drain the bandwidth of any decent web-user – it contains hundreds of copies of a 9000 x 9800px picture, which alone is around 4MB in size”.

It is understood that the reforms are a few days away from being announced.

Reform plan in final stages

It has been announced by the Office of the Chairman that the Central Committee are in the final stages of discussion over the reform plans to take effect in the next few weeks. Chairman Sir. Philip Fish said that the discussions had been “very fruitful” and that he was “receiving mostly positive feedback from other members, and we are seeking to improve on the suggestions made by some [Central Committee] members”. The announcement is expected to come in the next few days.

OAM election nominations open

Nominations for the November 2010 Organisation of Active Micronations Election have opened, with a flood of candidates entering into the fray. The positions up for grabs in the election include Secretary-General, the two Vice Secretary-General positions and Secretary of the OAM Internal Affairs Office – the first time that this has occurred.

Current Secretary-General and founder of the OAM, Sir. Philip Fish, has announced that he will not be running for the position of Secretary-General, instead running for Vice Secretary-General. “I feel that I can still fulfil a useful role if I am elected”, he said. “This is quite possibly the most exciting and diverse election we have ever had, with over 57 voters registered for the elections”.

Voting is now compulsory for member nations, but an election requires 50% or more of member nations to cast their vote for the election to be valid.

The A1NS will be keeping updates on the results as the votes come in, with daily analysis of the vote count. Campaigns will also be reported on.

New Central sheds 95% of citizens

An event anticipated for a long time, the last day of secondary education for New Central citizens also marks the end of “an important era in our history”, according to Chairman Sir. Philip Fish. He continued “We are obviously very sad to see such a diverse, active and involved citizenry in New Central, but they have chosen their own path and we wish them all the very best for their exams and future endeavours”.

95% of New Central’s citizenry are now no longer citizens, with only Deputy Chairman DC David Massarde, Chairman Sir. Philip Fish and High Justice Maximus ze Blah remaining as citizens, and the High Justice indicating that he may not stay for the duration. That brings New Central’s population count from around 25 citizens to only three. This also means that the Indonesian protectorate of Lichthalzen, with over 40 citizens and rising, now makes up by far the majority of A1′s population, with Governor Mars McTavish rumoured to challenge Sir. Fish for the position of Chairman at the next election – something that Sir. Fish concedes “could very well happen”.
